Academy Award Wining Producer Harvey Weinstein Accused Of Sexual Harassment For Decades

Movie mogul Harvey Weinstein is being accused of sexual harassment by dozens of women, including actress Ashley Judd. The twice married Weinstein is the co-founder of Miramax Films and the CEO of the Weinstein Film Company. At least eight women have come forward to accuse the Hollywood icon of sexual harassment, including actress Ashley Judd. The ‘New York Times’ launched an investigation into the claims after the accusations started to surface. After the allegations were published in the ‘NYT’, Weinstein issues a statement.

In it he said, “I appreciate the way I’ve behaved with colleagues in the past has caused a lot of pain, and I sincerely apologize for it. Though I’m trying to do better, I know I have a long way to go.” Weinstein also said that he was working regularly with therapists to address his issues, and he was taking ‘a leave of absence’ from his companies. The ‘NYT’ claimed the Weinstein privately settled at least eight lawsuits against him with the accusing women. Specifically the paper said Weinstein settled a claim for millions of dollars with actress Rose McGowan.

Judd has said, that Weinstein had offered her parts in films if she would sleep with him. Judd said that she told him no several times, and he would still come back time and time again and harass her. Judd whose sister and mother are country singers, Wynonna and Naomi Judd, said she felt trapped and panicky after the advances. She wondered out loud how she could get out of the room without making Harvey Weinstein mad. Lisa Bloom, Weinstein’s attorney denies most of the claims by the ‘New York Times’. Bloom said Weinstein is prepared to sue the ‘NYT’ if no retraction is offered. The New York Times is standing by their reporting and the published story.
