Former Calvin Klein model and actor Antonio Sabato Jr. 45, will run for Congress as a Republican against Rep. Julie Brownley. Sabato who was born in Italy and speaks fluent Italian was an outspoken supporter of Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential race. Sabato gained a lot of attention when he took part in the Janet Jackson video for the song ‘Love Will Never Do’. He had a successful run as a model for Calvin Klein underwear through the 90’s. He did a string of made for TV movies in the late 80’s and 90’s.
He had regular recurring roles in the daytime soap opera ‘General Hospital’ and the nighttime soap ‘Melrose Place’. He also had his own reality show ‘My Antonio’ oh VH1 where various woman vied for his attention. Sabato also competed on ‘Dancing With The Stars’ in 2014, he was paired with Cheryl Burke. The GOP fundraiser and strategist Charles Moran confirmed Sabato’s run for office to the Los Angeles Times. Moran will be part of Sabato’s political team, he will act as chief fundraiser. Another top GOP strategist Jeff Corless will act as Sabato’s campaign adviser.
Sabato spoke in support of Trump at the Republican national convention on July 18, 2016. He said he was black listed in Hollywood because he supported Trump. He told Fox News, “I can’t believe it, we are living in the greatest country in the world, we should be able to speak and say whatever we want. When I got back from the RNC in Cleveland I had some jobs lined up. I investigated why those jobs weren’t there anymore, and I learned it was because of my support for Mr. Trump.” He said he received horrible messages on social media calling him a racist. He said his great grandparents died in Auschwitz and he’s far from a racist.
