Actor Jeffrey Tambor Quits Highly Rated Show ‘Transparent’ Over Sexual Harassment Claims

Award winning actor Jefferey Tambor has put in his resignation from his hit Amazon TV show ‘Transparent’. The critically acclaimed show about the father of a family that comes out as transgender, is currently filming it’s 5th season. Tambor,73. has played the father Mort, since the show premiered in 2014. In the last few weeks two women have come out with sexual harassment claims against the actor.
The first was Tambor’s former assistant Van Barnes, who made the claims on November 8th.

Barnes said that the married father of six children repeatedly propositioned her, and grouped her and threatened to file a lawsuit if she ever said anything. In a statement released Sunday Tambor said, “Playing Maura Pfefferman on ‘Transparent’ has been one of the greatest experiences of my life. What has become clear over the past few weeks, however is that is that this is no longer the job I signed up for four years ago. I’ve already made clear my deep regret if any action of mine was ever misinterpret by anyone as being aggressive, but the idea that I would deliberately harass anyone is utterly not true.”

The actor went on to say under the current climate and media attention he is unable to continue with the show. The creator of the show Jill Soloway was taken by surprise, she claims that Tambor released the statement without running it by anyone at Amazon first. A cast member of the show, actress Trace Lysette said that Tambor sexually harassed her on multiple occasions and ‘got physical once’. Trace said working with him has been an emotional roller coaster he can be lovely one moment, and throw tantrums the next, with ‘harassment going on in the middle of the extremes’. Tambor admitted to having a’ volatile temper’ but denied ever being a predator.
