The man who has accused actress Asia Argento of rape when he was a 17 year old minor has broken his silence. Bennett appeared on an Italian show and was interviewed by Italian host, Massimo Gillettii. It was anything but a softball interview, Gilletti has been compared to Anderson Cooper. The host talked to the actor in Italian with simultaneous translation heard in an ear piece Bennett was wearing. Bennett felt ambushed by Gillettii’s questions, the host implied that Bennett was sexually satisfied during the encounter, so therefore it was not rape.
Bennett said he was very hesitant to come forward and talk about what happened to him. He said, “I was worried about coming in front of an audience and being accused of not being sincere about the violence against me. After this, that’s why I chose to stay silent, I was right.” Bennett’s attorney Gordon Sattro was sitting next to him during the interview. The actor seemed shocked by the questions being hurled at him. The host said, “A healthy 17 year old boy wouldn’t roll over and take it if a mature woman beckoned.” Gilletti added, the age of consent in Italy is 14, here it would not be an issue.
Bennett said Argento she reached out to him, telling him she wanted him to be in a film she was working on. He agreed to meet her in a hotel in California in 2013 when he was 17. He showed up with a male friend ready to audition for a part, ‘she had other ideas’ he said. Bennett said Argento plied him with champagne and unbuckled his pants and pushed him on the bed, she was the aggressor, ‘had she not made moves, there would have never been an encounter.’ The host said he didn’t look traumatized in the viral photo of the two in bed after the encounter. He said he felt strange and weird after the encounter.
