Actress Katie Cassidy Married Matthew Rodgers In Florida Over The Weekend

The daughter of the late ‘Patridge Family’ actor David Cassidy, Katie Cassidy is now married. The actress shared the news with her fans, by saying,”I can’t help falling in love with you, Yes, it’s official,#Mrs Rodgers, I love you my husband.” The couple married in a small but elegant ceremony in Sunset Key, Florida. The actress and Rodgers became engaged in June 2017. Cassidy’s father David died last year of organ failure at the age of 67.

The two had been estranged off and on for years, but reconciled when the actor became ill. She said at the time of his death, “Words can’t express the solace our family’s received from all the love and support during this trying time. My father’s last words were ‘So much wasted time.’ This will be a daily reminder for me to share my gratitude with those I love as to never waste another minute… Thank you.”Her mother is former model Sherry Williams. She was raised by her mother and stepfather, Richard Benedon. It was her stepfather that walked the actress down th aisle.

Some of her famous Cassidy relatives, like her uncle Shawn Cassidy were in attendance. David Cassidy said in 2009, ‘that he didn’t really raise her, so he couldn’t really parent her, he said at the time that he always made sure Katie knew he was there for her, and since he didn’t raise her, he was never judgmental.’ Katie said of her father, “To know that I can go to someone that I’m genetically related to and go to them and tell them anything and not be judged is unbelievable. It’s nice when your Dad can be your friend.” Cassidy said even though he didn’t raise her, she was very talented and he was very proud of her.”
