Actress Allison Mack and alleged cult leader Kieth Raniere are facing additional charges, federal prosecutors in Brooklyn announced Monday morning. Mack is currently free on a 5 million dollar bond, she is also under armrest and living with her parents in California. Mack has been accused of recruiting unknowing women to be used as sex slaves for Raniere and the alleged cult ‘NXIVM’. Some high profile backers of the alleged cult, said they had no idea that women were being used as sex slaves for Raniere. New video has been uncovered showing Mack doing promotional films for the group.
The group has been billed as a ‘self help group’, prosecutors are saying that the group was a front for Raniere to use women for his own deviant purposes. Prosecutors said that more charges will be filed in the coming weeks and Mack will also be charged with kidnapping and perjury. Some of the women brought into the group were branded with Rainere’s initials. Mack and Raniere were seated only two seats apart in court but did not look directly at each other.
Mack is best known for her work on the tv show ‘Smallville’. Friday’s hearing was the first time that Mack and Raniere were in the same room since the March arrest of the alleged cult leader. Raniere’s lawyers are saying they will file a plea for a bail hearing in the next few days. His lawyers are claiming that Raniere is innocent of these charges, and the women in the group are adults are in the group voluntarily. The judge in the case, Judge Garaufis set a trial date for October 1. One of Raniere’s ex girlfriends was in court to listen to the proceedings. The woman Toni Natalie said that the alleged cult leader is a dangerous and a sociopath, and said she’s happy to watch him squirm.
