Arnold Schwarzenegger & Maria Shriver Still Married 7 Years After Housekeeper Scandal

Actor and former governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver are still legally married. Shriver filed for divorce in 2011 after a revelation that Arnold fathered a son with the family housekeeper. At the time of the divorce filing, the couple had two children that were minors and two that were adults. They were able to amicably determine custody issues of the two minor children. At the time of the scandal, Arnold was wrapping up his second and last term as California Governor.

He resumed his lucrative acting career when he left office. Shriver who is part of the famed Kennedy political dynasty, has chosen privacy over publicity. Shriver had a successful career as a journalist with NBC, she had to resign her position when Arnold became the governor. She has appeared as a fill in host on the network since 2011. Her colleague Tom Brokaw introduced her to his friend Arnold Schwarzenegger in 1977. The couple married in 1986, their four children are Katherine,29, Christina,27, Patrick,25, and Christopher,20.

Arnold’s son Joseph Baena,20, is the same age as his and Maria’s youngest child Christopher. Baena’s mother is Mildred Baena who was the family housekeeper for over 15 years at the time of the revelation. Shriver confronted Mildred with her suspicions, due to the striking resemblance between Joseph and Arnold. Shriver said the revelation was ‘heartbreaking and painful’ and chose not to talk about it publicly. The couple did not have a prenuptial agreement, it is believe they amassed a 400 million dollar fortune while being married. They reportedly split up the assets, and both have moved on, with each living in their own homes. Shriver has been dating political consultant Matthew Dowd since 2013. Arnold has been dating his physical therapist girlfriend Heather Milligan since 2013. Despite their separate lives, the couple has not gone through with their divorce after 7 years.
