The ‘Bachelorette’ on “ABC’ aired a 3 hour finale Monday night, Becca Kurfrin chose Garret Yrigoyen, and he proposed. With a sparkling Neil Lane ring, he asked her to marry him, and she said ‘Yes’. Shortly after the first episode arid in May, there was controversy brewing. It was revealed that Garrett had ‘liked’ some very controversial Instagram posts. Posts that mocked gay people, trans people, a Parkland shooting survivor, and several other troubling posts. Yrigoyen was already engaged to Kufrin when the show started to air the season.
He was sworn to secrecy, now since the cat is out of the bag, he is spending his time apologizing for the Instagram controversy. He told ‘People Magazine’ that “It was tough, to be labeled a bigot and worse. I didn’t mean to offend anyone.” He called the likes “mindless taps, just because I liked it, doesn’t mean I supported it. I was raised in a very open minded family that was accepting of everybody. We’re very non judgmental, I’m very sincere.” As the posts were uncovered, Becca was very quick to defend her new finance. She said, “People have been saying really terrible things about Garrett, but thats not who he is now. People do things that are not perfect all the time.”
Kurfrin is from Minnesota and worked as a publicist before appearing on the last season of ‘The Bachelor’. Yrigoyen is from Central California, and now lives in Reno, Nevada and is a medical supply salesman. He was previously married in 2015 to his now ex wife Kayla Cunningham. The marriage lasted 2 months when the former couple split up. The divorce became final six months after the couple said their ‘I Do’s’. Cunningham bears a striking resemblance to Kufrin, the similarities are uncanny. No word yet on when the new couple will get married.
