Bachelorette Contestant Is A Former Boyfriend Of Gymnast Aly Raisman

The long running ABC hit show ‘The Bachelorette’ made it’s premier for season 13 on Sunday. Viewers quickly recognized one of the contestants, who are vying for Becca Kufrin’s heart. Colton Underwood, a former NFL player is also the ex boyfriend of Olympic gold medalist gymnast Aly Raisman. The gymnast was introduced to Underwood by his former teammate, Andrew East. The former football player is married to Raisman’s friend gymnast Shawn Johnson. The pair hit it off immediately, but kept their relationship quiet for the first five months. They went public in December 2016, when they attended the Sports Illustrated Sportsperson of the year in New York.

In January of 2017 the couple attended the Golden Globe Awards. Raisman said of Underwood, “He’s just a very thoughtful person.” Fans took to Twitter as soon as Underwood walked out of the limo to greet Kufrin. Some said they were shocked to see Underwood on the show, because they thought he was still involved with Raisman. The former football player told ‘The Lincoln Journal Star’ that he and the gymnast broke up in June of 2017.

He said of the breakup up, “We’re taking a break right now, We’re still good friends and we talk all the time, but all that travel is a nightmare.” He said the relationship ended on a good note. He added the attention the couple received from strangers was also a factor in the breakup. Kufrin is wasting no time in setting up strict boundaries. She sent a contestant home before the first official rose ceremony. Jake who is from her hometown Minneapolis, is someone that Kufrin knew socially before the show. She questioned his motives for being on the show. She sent him packing even though he tried to defend himself. Five other contestants received their walking papers. Underwood is still on the show after week one.
