The pricey Coachella Music Festival in Indio, California was in full swing on Saturday. Fans were jumping for joy as they watched Beyonce welcome her former girl group members, Michelle Williams and Kelly Roland to the the stage. The hugely popular ‘Destiny’s Child’ dominated the pop charts in the 90’s and early 2000’s. The women sang some of their most memorable hits, like ‘Say My Name’, ‘Soldier’ and ‘Lose My Breath’. The women wore matching black and gold outfits, that mimicked their look from the 90’s.
The ladies have reunited in the past for high profile events, like the Superbowl in 2013. The mother of three opened the festival with a two hour set. Her husband Jay-Z, joined her on stage for a duet of ‘Deja Vu.’ Beyonce publicly acknowledge the history making day by saying, “Coachella thank you for allowing me to be the first black woman to headline.” Beyonce also performed ‘Lift Every Voice And Sing.’ Beyonce was slated to be the headliner at the festival in 2017, but dropped out at the last moment. At the time of the festival Beyonce was pregnant with twins, and her doctor advised her against performing.
The singer was very disappointed that she couldn’t ‘perform at last years’ festival, but she told fans, she had to ‘take care of herself.’ Beyonce gave birth to daughter Rumi and son Sir Carter in June of 2017. She kept fans updated the last few months about her rigorous workout regimen to get ready for the festival. Beyonce also announced in March that she had taken to a ‘vegan diet’ to maintain a more healthy lifestyle. Jay-Z and his wife will begin their second tour together on June 6th in the United Kingdom. Beyonce will also perform a second time at Coachella on April 21.
