Actors Jenna Dwann-Tatum and Channing Tatum announced that after 9 years of marriage they have decided to separate. Friends of the former couple told ‘People Magazine’ that the ‘Magic Mike’ star moved out of the family home before the first of the year. The pair have still been doing things jointly as a family for the sake of their young daughter Everly Tatum,4. Their last public appearance together was last month for the ‘Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards’. The last time Tatum publicly acknowledged his wife was in December, wishing her a happy birthday.
A friend said of the split, “It was a long time coming, they have been having huge problems for the last year.” The estranged couple both 37, met on the set of the movie ‘Step Up’ in 2005, and started dating when the film wrapped and married in 2009. The couple released a joint statement on Monday, that read in part, “We have lovingly decided to separate as a couple. There are no secrets nor salacious events at the root of our decision. Just two best friends realizing it’s time to take some space and help each other live the most joyous fulfilled lives as possible.”
Friends are saying that the couple have had very serious fights, and battles, and dueling egos were at play constantly. Dewann dropped some hints that all was not well when she gave a telling interview to ‘Health’ in February. She said, “When people say you have such a perfect life, I want to scream and tell them no, no one is perfect. I think there are such things as great fits. It is a great fit as long as your are growing together. Even if one starts to grow, the other catches up and visa versa.” The actress said although they try to always work disagreements out, “there are days when we just don’t like each other.”
