Chelsea Handler Donated A Million Dollars To Puerto Rico Hurricane Relief Efforts

On Friday Chelsea Handler announced on Twitter that she would donate one million dollars to assist the people of Puerto Rico. She encouraged others to follow suit. She called out specific others like Donald Trump, the Koch Brothers and anyone else that could help the thousands of people still suffering from Hurricane Maria. The announcement of the donation happened only one day after Handler announced she was leaving her self titled talk show on Netflix to concentrate on civil issues.

The comedienne has spoken recently of her need to speak out against civil unrest and racial divide a midst the current Trump Administration. Handler,42, said,” My goal is to be better informed, raise my voice and participate in a more meaningful way.  I want to travel the country and visit areas and people I don’t know enough about. I would like to speak at colleges and listen to students, and gain a better understanding of our political divide. I have joined forces with ‘Emily’s List’ to elect more women to public office, register people to vote and campaign for candidates who are fighting for women’s rights.”

Over the past cantankerous election year, Handler was extremely vocal in her support for presidential candidate Hilary Clinton. Several other celebrities including Jennifer Lopez, Alex Rodriquez and Jay Z have also donated money to Puerto Rico and encouraged their fans to do the same.  While this donation can certainly help Handler’s dwindling popularity, her infamous falling out with famous ‘bestie’ actress Jennifer Aniston, still permeates the air. Over the summer Handler admitted to the falling out with the former ‘Friends’ star. A source who is close to both women, claims that Handler has quietly admitted to other friends that ‘she alone is to blame for the fractured friendship’.
