The incident left Chase being knocked to the ground and kicked very hard in his shoulder, causing damage. The incident happened earlier this month, but the other driver is speaking out now about the incident. The man was driving a 2015 Ram pickup truck, Chase was in a Mercedes.
Chase followed the truck, he honked his horn and flashed his lights until both vehicles pulled over on the side of the busy freeway. Chase according to the police report got out of his car first and walked over to the truck driven by 22 year old Michael Landrio. The New York native, told a reporter that he believed Chase was going to assault so he kicked Chase hard to defend himself. The kick instantly took the 74 year old actor to the ground. He sprawled out on the ground, and witnesses started calling 911, some identify Chase by name.
Police arrived only seconds after Chase was on the ground, and Landrio was arrested on the scene and charged with second degree assault, and harassment. The report claims the incident became escalated with a passenger in the truck. Chase claims the passenger was yelling insults and flipping him off. Landrio claims the actor said “I would bust you in the nose and take care of you if I were younger.” The young man claims after Chase made that comment, he considered that a threat and he needed to defend himself. Landrio told “The New York Post’ on Friday that he had no idea why Chase was following his truck. He claims the actor started yelling and screaming and he was afraid for his life. A court date for Landrio is scheduled for March 9th.
