It was a double header on Monday night at ‘ABC’, both shows had their season finale’s. On ‘Dancing With The Stars’, the season came to an end only four weeks after starting, which is this shortest season of the show. It was an athlete cast, and figure skater Adam Rippon took home the mirror-ball. He was the heavy favorite since week one. Rippon said he had ‘an instant chemistry with his professional dance partner, Jenna Johnson. The Pennsylvania native had some stiff competition going into the final.
Figure skater Tonya Harding along with her partner, Sasha Farber, had high scores and impressive performances through the competition. The third couple to make it to the final was football player, Josh Norman and partner Sharna Burgess. All three couples performed two dances during the final. The scores were tallied from the judges and viewers who were able to vote in real time for the first time. Before the results were announced the entire cast performed a group dance. Rippon’s mother was looking on from the audience as her son won the competition. Harding thanked “American for giving her another chance.”
On ‘American Idol’ the winner was Maddie Poppe, who was in the final with Caleb Lee Hutchinson. Poppe a 20 year old singer and songwriter from Iowa, won the season over her boyfriend Hutchinson. The couple announced that they were dating, and ‘now an official couple’. Hutchinson who hails from Dallas, Georgia said that as soon as top contenders moved to Los Angeles, he knew ‘there were sparks brewing.’ The pair said the hardest part of dating, was keeping romance a secret. Hutchinson took to ‘Twitter’ right after the end of the show and said, “My girlfriend won American Idol.” Poppe said, ‘She’s adjusting to the changes in her life, she’s getting reading to go out on the road with Hutchinson other cast-mates, for their touring show.
