Lee Daniels and Academy Award winning actress Mo’Nique have been feuding for several months. The famed director has broken his silence, by saying the actress should blame herself for her professional problems. The actress was in the Lee Daniels directed film ‘Precious’ in 2009 playing the mother of an abused teenager living in an inner city. She won the Academy Award later that year for ‘best supporting actress.’ The actress has had on tonging feud with Daniels, Tyler Perry, and Oprah Winfrey. She claims the trio blackballed her in Hollywood and she hasn’t been able to get acting gigs because of it.
Mo’Nique’s last film room was in the 2016 film ‘Almost Christmas’ playing Aunt Mary. She appeared in the 2015 television movie ‘Bessie’ playing ‘Ma Rainey’. She has been absent from television and movies since those last roles. Daniels appeared on the radio show, ‘Raq Rants’ to fire back at Mo’Nique and set the record straight. The director referencing record producer and entrepreneur Dame Dash said, “Dame Dash is completely different from Mo’Nique.” Dash and Daniels are also feuding about a canceled film project about the late Richard Pryor. Dash has been claiming that Daniels owes him 5 million dollars.
Mo’Nique has been making claims that Daniels is the prime reason she isn’t getting acting work anymore. Daniels said “For her to continue to talk about Oprah and myself and Tyler is disrespectful. I don’t understand her motive, I don’t get it. We were all down for Mo, I don’t get what she’s doing.” He said he was grateful for Mo’Nique’s performance in the film ‘Precious’, but she was heavily awarded by getting the Oscar and the Golden Globe for her performance. Daniels said “She blackmailed herself, she needs to shut up.” Mo’Nique recently said that Netflix discriminated against her because of her race and was only offered a fraction of what other actors were paid.
