Disgraced Producer Harvey Weinstein Surrendered To Police In New York On A Felony Rape Charge

Harvey Weinstein once one of the most powerful men in Hollywood is now an accused rapist. Weinstein turned himself in to New York Police on Friday morning. The charges that Weinstein was arrested on are that he forced actress Lucia Evans to perform oral sex on him during an audition in 2004 in New York. The state some of the longest statue of limitations in the country. Hundreds of women have come forward to accuse the fallen producer of sexual assault and rape.

Weinstein has denied all the charges, claiming any sexual contact he had with any of the women accusing him was consensual. According to NBC Weinstein will be processed and fingerprinted, and a mug shot taken. He is expected to make bail, and will be released under house detention with an ankle bracket. The New York Times first exposed Weinstein in October 2017. Weinstein turned himself this morning to the first precinct in New York. He walked into the station with his head down, and refused to answer any questions hurled to him by the assembled media.

One of Weinstein’s first accusers actress Rose McGowan was elated with the news that Weinstein turned himself in. The actress said, “the best form of justice would be for Weinstein to go poof behind bars, never to be heard from again. That would be some form of justices.” Ronan Farrow, the son of actress Mia Farrow was the first journalist to write exposes about Weinstein. He said this morning, “these are very serious charges, the prosecution believes the charges are very serious and they have a solid case against Weinstein.” He went on to say the charges against Weinstein has changed Hollywood forever, it exposed ‘the dark secrets that have been buried for decades.’ Weinstein is facing up to 25 years in prison if convicted.
