Dr. Phil Being Called ‘Grinch’ By Staff After He Cuts Christmas Paychecks

For the first time in ten years, Dr. Phil McGraw will not be his paying television staff. The staff takes two weeks off for the Christmas break, they normally receive a normal paycheck while they are off. The heads of each department were told in person that they are to inform their employees that they will not be getting paid for the 2 week hiatus. These breaks are normal in the entertainment industry, many non news shows shut down during the last two weeks of the year.

McGraw gave every employee a $500 gift card, that can be used anywhere. The employees are said to be furious with McGraw, for pulling this days before Christmas. Many are saying that they have plans for their two weeks off, and with no check their plans have been ruined. One staffer sent McGraw a sarcastically written letter, thank him and his wife Robin for the gift card. The staffer wrote that all the employees are angry and hurt that this was pulled the last minute. To further rub salt in the wounds, McGraw was named by Forbes as one of the wealthiest performers on TV earning over 77 million last year alone.

Dr. Phil and his wife also recently taped a holiday segment of the show, allowing viewers to see their over the top holiday decorations. Their multi million dollar Bel Air mansion was all decked out with fancy decorations that included an 15 foot gingerbread house. During the segment Robin McGraw was hawking one of several products she has. The ‘Robin McGraw Revelation Holiday Gift Box sells for $120 and it was still being offered with expedited shipping. Many long time employees have grown dependent on the Christmas checks. The Blast is reporting that the checks were cut due to budget issues being very tight this year.
