Controversial reality TV personality Farrah Abraham was fired from MTV’s ‘Teen Mom OG’ earlier this year. The single mother of one daughter, was with the show since it premiered in 2009. She also was in the first cast of the network’s ’16 & Pregnant’. The producers of the show fired Abraham for containing to work in the adult film industry. Abraham filed a lawsuit against MTV for ‘wrongful termination’ in her home state of Texas. This week it was announced that Abraham and MTV settled the lawsuit with prejudice, meaning the case cannot be refiled again.
The star of the porn film’ Backdoor Teen Mom’ issued a statement regarding the settlement, “I’m happy Viacom wanted to settle and I’m thrilled with the outcome. I did the right thing by filing the lawsuit. I honestly felt that if I didn’t stand up firm, I would have regretted it for the rest of my life. I would have thought my entire life I should have sued.” Abraham’s struggles has been well documented, the show illustrated her sometimes caustic relationship with her parents, Debra Danielsen and Micheal Abraham. She quickly became the cast member that viewers hated, due in part to the way she interacted with her parents.
Derek Underwood, the father of Abraham’s daughter Sophia died in a car accident 2 months before his daughter was born. Abraham announced that she was going on a spending spree to ‘celebrate her victory over MTV.’ She bought a pair of black and white sneakers which retail for over a thousand dollars. The initial lawsuit was seeking 5 million dollars in damages, the amount of the settlement has not been disclosed. Abraham said that designer Louis Vuitton congratulated her on win against MTV. The rest of the ‘Teen Mom OG’ cast mates all said that they were happy Abraham was fired from the show. Amber Portwood said ‘the firing was long overdue.”
