Farrah Fawcett’s Son Redmond O’Neal Arrested Again For Armed Robbery

Redmond O’Neal the only child of the late actress Farrah Fawcett was arrested in Santa Monica, CA for armed robbery. Redmond is the son of actor Ryan O’Neal, and the half brother of actress Tatum O’Neal. The criminal complaint issued by the Los Angeles Police Department alleges that O’Neal walked into a convenience store in Santa Monica, and threatened a clerk with a knife. After the clerk turned over an undisclosed amount of cash, O’Neal fled the store. The incident happened early Wednesday morning. The 33 year old was arrested less than a mile from the store.

Police recovered the stolen cash and a knife from O’Neal, the knife according to the police matches the description the clerk gave. Redmond is being held on a 500 k bond, he is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday. O’Neal has strugged with drug addiction for most of his life. When his mother Farrah Fawcett was dying of cancer in 2009, he was in jail serving a sentence for driving under the influence of a controlled substance. He was given permission by the court to attend her July 2009 funeral. This latest arrest is one of many legal entanglements O’Neal has faced in the last 14 years.

In 2015 his probation was revoked for various probation violations. He pleaded ‘no contest’ to heroin and gun possession in 2011. Redmond’s half sister actress Tatum O’Neal herself a recovering addict, spoke about her concerns for her brother in 2015. Tatum said, “I love him, but I have never seen a more scary side of addiction. He’s got addiction problems so bad it breaks my heart. No one knows what do with Redmond. From what I’ve seen there is no way he’s going to survive. Redmond’s father Ryan O’Neal, said his son has never recovered from Fawcett’s 2009 death. At the time of Fawcett’s death, Redmond already had a lengthy criminal record.
