Fergie Defends Her National Anthem Performance At The NBA All-Star Game

Singer Fergie is getting a slack after she sang the national anthem ahead of the NBA All-Star Game. Fergie said “I tried my best”, that’s all anyone can do the singer said to her critics. The Sunday February 18th game was watched by millions of fans. Fergie elaborated, “I’ve always been honored and proud to perform the national anthem, and last night I wanted to try something special for the NBA. I’m a risk taker artistically, but clearly this rendition didn’t strike the intended tone. I love this country and honestly tried my best.”

Fergie released the statement after a bombardment of negativity regarding her performance at the Staple Center in Los Angeles. Some fans and some famous faces lashed out at the former “Black Eyed Peas’ singer. Pregnant Khloe Kardashian tweeted, “ This All Star opening is confusing me, WTF is going on? Anyone?” A viewer watching on TV said “My golly. Fergie needs to be tased, pepper sprayed, and led away in handcuffs for her criminal rendition of the national anthem.” Another fan said, “Yeah you killed it, but not in a good way.”

Some of the commentators calling the game had their say too. Charles Barkley said, “Can we talk about what we just saw?” Another on the panel, Shaquille O’Neal had praise for Fergie, he said” Fergie, I love you, it was sexy it was different.” Barkley responded to his fellow panelist and long time friend by say, “Damn right it was different, I need a cigarette after that.” Someone on Fergie’s team said ‘Fergie thought the performance was fine, she didn’t think there was anything wrong with it.’ The source also added, that Fergie sings a lot of songs in the same way. She wanted ‘to be different with her riffs and stand out.”
