Singer Fergie didn’t stay down and out of the spotlight for long. The former ‘Black Eyed Peas’ singer dusted herself off and returned to the stage on Saturday. Fergie faced severe backlash after her she sang her rendition of the ‘Star Spangled Banner’ at the NBA All-Star game on February 18th. Fergie’s appearance on Saturday at the LA Forum for DJ Khaled set was a surprise to fans who were in attendance. Khaled introduced Fergie as ‘My sister from the four”, Fergie sang some of her biggest hits,
Fergalicious’, ‘London Bridge’ and ‘Glamorous’.
The singer was well received by the audience, she looked well and said “I’m very excited to be here.”
After her national anthem performance two weeks ago, she was the mocked and ridiculed by the masses. After the performance and in response to the negativity, Fergie released a statement. It read in part, “I’ve always been and honored and proud to perform the National Anthem and last night I wanted to try something special for the NBA. I’m a risk taker artistically, but clearly this rendition didn’t strike the intended tone. I love this country and I honestly tried my best.”
Her estranged husband, actor Josh Duhamel, was seen bringing her flowers a day after the performance. He appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres Show and defended the mother of his young son. He said, “I think she would probably admit that it was not her best work, but the girl is crazy talented. She really is, she’s an amazing woman an amazing human being really. You’re in this business and you win some and you lose some.” The actor said Fergie was extremely resilient and ‘she’s fine.’ DJ Khaled is currently on tour with Demi Lovato. He told reporters, he decided rather last minute to invite his good friend Fergie to sing on stage. He said “That’s what friends do.”
