Former NBA Player Rasual Butler & Singer Wife Leah LaBelle Killed In Car Crash

Former NBA player and close friend of Lamar Odom, Rasual Butler died on Monday in car crash in the Los Angeles suburb of Studio City. Butler was 38 years old, killed with him was his 31 year old wife, Leah LaBelle, who was signed with Epic Records. LaBelle was a former contestant on ‘American Idol’. The accident occurred at around 2:00 a.m on Wednesday morning on Ventura Blvd in Studio City, CA. Butler was behind the wheel of his late model Range Rover when he lost control and drive into a parking meter and rolled over and slammed into a wall.

The police reported that Butler was driving three times the legal speed limit in the area. The LAPD said had it been earlier there would have been more casitulates. Butler started playing college ball at La Salle University in Philadelphia, PA. He was drafted by the Miami Heat and also played for New Orleans, LA Clippers, Chicago Bulls, Toronto Raptors, Tulsa 66ers, Indiana Pacers, Washington Wizards and San Antonio Spurs. Last year Butler played for the Big3 League, and was expected to start season 2 next month.

The Indiana Pacers issued a statement, “Our entire organization is deeply saddened after learning of the death of former Pacer player, Rasual Butler and his wife Leah LaBelle. In one season with us, Rasual was the consummate team player and a great role model for our younger players on how a professional should act and prepare, while being a positive influence on everyone associated with him.” Butler regularly appeared on his close friend’s reality show ‘Khloe & Lamar,’ on ‘E’ with Odom and his then wife Khloe Kardashian. LaBelle appeared on season 3 of ‘American Idol’ she came in 12th. The season winner Fantasia Barrino said on Twitter, “I will never forget you, RIP Angel’.
