Heather Locklear Transferred To A Long Term Psychiatric Hospital For Continued Care

Family and friends of actress Heather Locklear are hopeful that she will get the long term psychiatric care she needs. The ‘Melrose Place’ alum was transferred from Los Robles Hospital in Thousand Oaks, CA to an undisclosed long term care facility. TMZ is reporting that Locklear will be hospitalized for the treatment of ‘serious substance abuse issues and psychiatric issues. A source close to the actress said that the hospital that Locklear was taken to earlier in the week did assessments.

They determined that her issues were more psychiatric than substance abuse, however both issues need long term treatment. The actress and mother of one daughter Ava, was cooperating with the hospital staff, and expressed a desire to get healthy. Heather’s family consulted with an attorney about obtaining legal guardianship over the 56 year old actress. The family were told that a legal conservator-ship although not impossible to obtain, is extremely difficult in California. Heather’s family are trying to remain positive about the outcome, but are cautious.

The actress has been in and out of treatment in the last five years, with no long term success. Locklear is facing some criminal charges as she tries to regain her physical and mental health. The most serious charges are assault and battery against a police officer. Earlier in the week Locklear’s first husband, ‘Motley Crew’ drummer had some sharp works for radio host Howard Stern. The disc jockey blamed Lee and her second husband Richie Sombora for her mental health issues. He said, “You know what drove this woman crazy? She was married to Tommy Lee and Richie Sombora, they made her f*****g insane.” Lee wasn’t having any of it, he said, “How dare you blame me for Heather’s recent troubles, that was 24 years ago, you idiot. You should be wishing her well and not bashing me, “fu**head”.
