Jennifer Aniston & Justin Theroux May Not Have Been Legally Married

Actors Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux announced this week that they have split after marrying in 2015. The estranged couple started dating in 2012, after they reconnected on the set of ‘Wanderlust’. Multiple news sources are reporting that combing through marriage licenses since 2010, there is no record of an Aniston, Theroux license. TMZ is reporting that the pair never got a license in Los Angeles County. It’s possible that they could have been granted a license in another California County. The pair reportedly married at their Bel Air mansion in 2015.

Another issue is neither one has hired a divorce attorney, and that is usually customary when stars split. High profile divorce attorneys usually announce that they are handling the divorce proceedings. When TMZ contacted known legal representatives for the former couple, no one responded back with a comment. The couple’s split announcement did not mention the word ‘divorce’. A source close to Aniston told TMZ that it’s been known among the couple’s inner circle that they were never legally married.

It’s possible that the pair could have had a marriage license with the names voided out to protect their privacy. A TMZ source says the couple did not get a confidential marriage license nor a public one. The split announcement made earlier this week read, “In an effort to reduce any further speculation, we have decided to announce our separation. This decision was mutual and lovingly made at the end of last year. We are two best friends, who decided to part ways as a couple. Normally we would do this privately, but given that the gossip industry can not resist the opportunity to speculate and invent, we wanted to convey the truth directly. Whatever else is printed about us, that is not directly from us, it’s someone else’s fictional narrative.”
