Oscar winner and ‘Voice’ coach Jennifer Hudson was dealt a huge blow in her custody battle. Hudson and retired professional wrestler David Otunga split after 10 years together in early November. The couple have an eight year old son, David Otunga, Jr. Otunga,36, was granted full primary custody of the child in a Los Angeles court today. Hudson, 36. heard the news in London where she is currently filming ‘The Voice UK’. She will be heading back to the US shortly to resume filming ‘The Voice’, she is wrapping up her first year as a coach on the show.
Sources connected to the show said that Hudson will not be asked to do a second season of the show, ‘due to her diva antics.’ Otunga is a sometime actor, retried professional wrestler and attorney and now a commentator for ‘World Wrestling Entertainment, (WWE)’ Otunga in court documents stated that he has been the primary caregiver of his son, since the child was born. He stated that due to Hudson’s demanding career, she travels all over the world constantly. Shortly before the custody hearing Hudson dropped a protective order against Otunga.
She had made claims earlier that she feared for her life and the life of her son. She stated that Otunga had ‘uncontrolled fits of rage, and was someone that could not be trusted with her son.’ Otunga and his legal team vehemently denied any claims of abuse, and accused Hudson of fabricating events in order to gain leverage in the custody battle. The custody agreement grants full residential custody to Otunga, which states that the child will live with Otunga, and Hudson will see her son during scheduled visits. Otunga claims that he was the one that ended the relationship due to Hudson’s infidelity. Hudson said the relationship ended due to abuse and ‘for no other reason.’
