There was some bad news on Monday for Jennifer Lopez. The cop show, ‘Shades of Blue she stars in and produces has been cancelled by ‘NBC’. There will be no season four, Lopez has released a statement. The statement read in part, “I have enjoyed producing and staring in this beautifully complicated world and playing such an empowering yet flawed character. A woman, a detective, but first and foremost a mother. Now looking at it with a little distance, playing Harlee straightened me and helped me grow into a more self assured woman.”
The mother of two continued, “ It’s crazy how some roles permeate your soul and change you forever, and for that I am grateful. We crafted a poetic three season arc on how her journey ends, with true redemption. The way only Harlee could have done it. The hard way, the road less traveled. I thank NBC and all the talented actors, writers, crew and producers for going on this journey with us.” The show had a few cast members that brought some solid acting chops to the table. Lopez had a direct hand at casting many of the cast members.
Actress Drea de Matteo played Tess Nazario, the role that lunched her was ‘Adriana’ in ‘The Sopranos’. The New York native won an Emmy for her role during season 5 in 2004. ‘Goodfellows’ actor Ray Liotta played Lieutenant Matt Wozniak. Pearlena Igbokwe. The president of Universal Television said, “This is one of the flagship shows and we’re excited to share the final chapter with viewers who will be on the edge of their seats discovering how Harlee’s story concludes. It has been a supreme pleasure working with executive producers Jennifer Lopez, Jack Orman, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, Benny Medina, Ryan Seacrest and Nina Wass.” The third and last season of the show will premiere on NBC on June 17th, 2018.
