Julie Chen the host of ‘Big Brother’ and ‘The Talk’ is stepping down from ‘The Talk’ as host and moderator as the show. She has been the co-host and moderator of the show since it debuted 9 seasons ago. Chen has been absent from the show this season, which premiered September 10th. Chen is expected to make a video tape message to her fans and co-workers at CBS, the tape will be showed during the Tuesday show. Many speculated out loud about Chen’s ability to still host the show after her husband Les Moonves resigned in disgrace as CEO of CBS last week.
Joy Behar on ‘The View’ on ‘ABC’ said last week said she didn’t see how it was possible for Chen to return as the host. Behar said, “What can she talk about? Her husband has now been labeled a sexual predator, they talk about that subject on the show.” Co-host Sharon Osborne, addressed the Moonves issue on the show’s September 10th premiere. Osborne said, “I never really knew Les Moonves as a person, just as Julie’s husband, it was a very superficial relationship. After everything that has come out, the man obviously has problems.”
A source told CNN that ‘Chen was not forced out, she resigned, deciding that her main focus is to clear her husband’s name from allegations made 30 years ago. She also must focus on her young son.’ According to sources Chen will still host ‘Big Brother’. Some of the Moonves allegations occurred at the time that Chen was dating and then married to Moonves. A source said that couple are going through a very difficult time. The couple have been married since 2004 and have an 8 year old son, Charlie. Moonves’ severance package money is being held in an escrow account, pending the outcome of the investigation against the former CEO.
