The meeting between President-elect Donald Trump and Kanye West stirred buzz among the netizens on Tuesday, with the rapper seen at Trump Tower in NYC several days after being hospitalized.
With West by his side, Trump talked to reporters and referred to the rapper as a good man, informing the journalists that they are actually friends for some time now.
Initially, West refused to discuss what transpired during the meeting but later on, he took to Twitter to share what happened. And with his last tweet which ended with the hashtag #2024, it seems that the rapper made up his mind to postpone the presidential run he promised earlier until after Trump’s second term.
West said that there are some things about Trump’s campaign that he particularly liked. He also wanted to meet with the new president to talk about multicultural problems. These problems included support for teachers, bullying, Chicago violence and modernization of curriculums. The rapper further said that he feel it is imperative to have direct line of communication with the future President if people are really after change.
After their chat, both Trump and West appeared at the lobby and while Trump said that they discussed about life, West decided to shrug off questions regarding his presidential run on 2020, a plan that was announced way back during 2015 MTV Video Music Awards. Furthermore, he also did not confirm if he will be one of the performers for the inauguration of the newly elected president. West said that all he wanted right now was to take a picture.
This particular meeting between West and Trump was the rapper’s second appearance in public after he has been discharged from the hospital in the later part of November after he was admitted due to exhaustion.
Based on reports, the rapper was suffering from sleepless nights and nightmares for several weeks which led to his hospitalization. West was not just in the middle of his tour in Saint Pablo but it was also reported that he was still shaken by the traumatic experience of learning how his wife, Kim Kardashian West, had been tied up by robbers in a Paris Hotel back in October.
Before he was hospitalized, West already cancelled the rest of his Saint Pablo tour after some strange concerts. It was also noticed that during one show in San Hose, West even revealed a political screed that lasted for 25 minutes where he claimed that he did vote during the 2016 Presidential election, he would have voted for Trump.
During the rapper’s stay in the hospital, many fans expressed their concern about his current mental health and amidst all the criticisms, social media still flooded with lots of well wishes and dedicated prayers for him.
While there are plenty of rumors and speculations surrounding this meeting between Donald Trump and Kanye West, it seems that the public can only continue to wonder as to what really transpired behind closed doors.
