Actress Nicole Kidman said ‘she was very surprised that her husband Keith Urban received the top award of the CMA’s Thursday night. Urban was named ‘Entertainer of the Year’, as Kidman proudly looked on from the audience. An hour after the show was over, Kidman wrote, “What a night, we were so shocked. Congratulations Baby.” When Urban’s name was called he took the stage and said, “Thank you so much. Baby girl I love you so much. I am shocked.” He also mentioned the couple’s two children, daughters Faith 7, and Sunday,`10.
He called Sunday ‘Munchkin’ and said, “Thank you for supporting me and loving me through all that I do. Thank you for supporting Daddy, you make it all worth it.” Urban also thanked his millions of fans around the world, the country music radio stations that play his music, and he also mentioned his late farther who died in 2015. He said, “I wish my dad was alive to see this, but he’s watching over me tonight. I am very grateful that I get to do what I do.”Urban had some tough competition for the award.
Nominated with Urban was Jason Aldean, Luke Bryant, Chris Stapleton and Kenny Chesney. Kidman and Urban both natives of Australia met in 2005 at an event for ‘Gooday LA’. The couple married in 2006 at Cardinal Cerretti Memorial Chapel in Sidney Australia. Kidman said that when the two got married she didn’t know him that well, ‘she had to get to know him when they were married.’ Kidman was previously married to actor Tom Cruise from 1990 to 2001. The ex couple had two adopted children, Conner and Isabella. Urban and Kidman have four homes they split their time between. One in their native Australia, Los Angeles, Sutton Forest in New South Whales, and Tennessee. Urban was a judge on ‘American Idol’ for four years until it ended in 2016.
