Reality TV star Kourtney Kardashian was in D.C. To testify before Congress about the hazardous chemicals in makeup. The mother of three said she started to examine overall safety after having her first child Mason in 2009. The oldest Kardashian sibling testified at a briefing in conjunction with the group, ‘Environmental Working Group’. The group is working to get a law passed that would regulate the makeup industry. The bill was written by California Senator Dianne Feinstein.
The bill would allow the Food & Drug Administration to oversee the cosmetic industry. Currently there are no regulations in place for the makeup industry. Kourtney is partnering with her younger sister Kylie Jenner, in a new makeup line. Kourtney K has been an outspoken advocate for healthy living and using organic and natural products. The choices she makes regarding products for herself and her children, are often filmed and captured on the family reality show, ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians.’
Kourtney appeared at the nation’s capital in a fitted black pant suit, and took questions from the assembled law makers.
The bill if passed would also regulate personal beauty products, Kardashian said she couldn’t believe the amount of possible toxic chemicals that are present in baby products. Kourtney K said that “when it comes to the safety of my kids, I don’t play around.” She went on to explain that everyone should be entitled to use products that are safe and free of toxins. Kourtney said, “that is why I wanted to come here today, to make sure everyone is doing their job, and making these products safer for the American buying public. Kardashian told lawmakers that her organic and toxic free moisturizer was taken from her before her flight, due to its size. She was left with having to use products from the hotel, with no knowledge of ingredients in them.
