Kendall and Kylie Jenner were trying to sell black T-Shirts with the images of late rappers Tupac and Notorious B.I.G. The shirts were selling for $125.00 and had images of the two deceased rappers, and the brand logo on them with the initials KK. Fans starting blasting the sisters, some saying it was disrespectful and the sisters are uneducated. The shirts were immediately pulled from the Jenner’s website, Kendall + Kylie. Kendall offered an apology just as the backlash was reaching a boiling point.
Kendall said through a statement:”These designs were not well thought out, and we deeply apologize to anyone that has been upset or offended. Especially to the friends and family of the artists. We are huge fans of their music, and it was not our intention to disrespect these icons in any way.” Notorious B.I.G’s mother Volette Wallace took to her Instagram account and gave the girls a lesson in motherly love. Mrs. Wallace said,”I am not sure who told Kylie and Kendall Jenner that they had the right to do this.
The disrespect of these girls to not reach out to me or anyone connected with the estate of ‘Christopher Wallace’, baffles me. I have no idea why they think they can exploit the deaths of 2pac and my son, Christoper to sell a T-shirt. This is disrespectful, disgusting and exploitation at it’s worst!!”A lawyer for the Wallace estate, sent the Jenner girls a ‘cease and desist’ letter. The shirts were pulled shortly after the announcement of the lawyer’s letter. The attorney Julian K. Petty said that he was curious to see a justification from the Jenner sisters as to why they thought they could do this, and further more he wanted to know how the matter could be resolved.
