LeBron James In The Hot Seat Over Jewish Slur

LeBron James is apologizing for some not too nice comments he made the other day. He has been getting major backlash for a picture and his comments he posted. The lyrics in question are, “We been getting that Jewish money, everything is Kosher.” His own caption, “Getting that Jewish money.” The song is from, 21 Savage’s song ‘ASMR’. People were fast to give their opinions on the post, by saying they thought it was extremely inappropriate for James to post that. James tried to quiet the backlash by saying the thought ‘it was a compliment’.

James turned to ESPN to offer his apology, he said “Apologies for sure, if I offended anyone.” James went on to explain, “That’s not why I chose to share the lyric. In the past I always share lyrics, that’s what I do. I ride in my car listen to great music, and that was the byproduct of that.” He tried to untangle his message with, “So I actually thought it was a compliment and obviously it wasn’t through the lens of a lot of people. My apologies, it definitely wasn’t my intent to hurt anybody.” ESPN reported that Jame is not facing fines from the NBA over the caption.

One follower said, “Surprised LeBron who makes very few mistakes, put this out. Does quoting lyrics from a song absolve the person quoting from the responsibility behind the words? I would argue no, especially with 45 million people following him. This latest snafu came only a few days after he made some controversial comments about NFL owners. He said, “The difference between the NFL and the NBA, the NBA is like what we believe he can be the potential. The NFL it’s like what can you do for me this Sunday or this Monday or Thursday? And if you aint it we moving on.”
