Former actress Meghan Markle and her husband Prince Harry are expecting their first child. Monday morning Buckingham Palace released an official statement regarding Markle’s pregnancy. The couple said they had planned to start having a child in ‘the near future’ shortly after their engagement was announced. The couple had a lavish royal wedding ceremony in May of 2018. The palace said, “Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that the Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019.
The couple were able to tell their close family members the news this weekend at the wedding of Harry’s cousin Princess Eugenie. According to sources the former ‘Suits’ actress is 12 weeks pregnant. She had her 12 week scan and is ‘feeling great’ according to the source. Speculation has been swirling in the last week that Markle was indeed pregnant. During Eugenie’s wedding, Markle kept her dark blue long coat on during the entire day. A friend of the couple said that Markle,37, felt there wasn’t a lot of time to wait to start trying for a family. The friend added, ‘The priority since they married has been starting a family.’
The couple arrived in Australia on Monday morning for their first international tour as a married couple. Markle was seen clutching a purple folder in front of her as she got off the plane. A royal insider said that Markle’s mother Doria Ragland is very excited to welcome her first grandchild. There has been talk lately that Doria would be moving to England from her native California. Ragland was the only family member of Markle’s that attended her wedding. Prince Charles, Harry’s father walked Markle down the isle, as her father Thomas Markle claimed he was recovering from heart surgery. Markle has had to deal with one embarrassing headline after another as her estranged family tries to cash in on her new fame as a member of the Royal family.
