The only conservative voice on the very liberal panel of the ‘The View’ started her co-hosting gig on Monday. Meghan McCain, the 32 year old daughter of Arizona Senator John McCain, excitedly took her seat alongside Joy Behar, Sarah Haines, Sonny Hostin, after she was introduced by Whoopi Goldberg. McCain left her job on ‘Fox News’ in July after her father was diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer. It’s such a privilege being on this show, McCain said, she added, I will bring a different perspective to the show.
McCain said co-host Goldberg was ‘the first lady of ‘The View, she said she’s extremely excited to be on the show. McCain the author of ‘The Dirty Sexy Politics’, turned to host Behar and said” Joy I don’t think we will agree on anything. McCain calls herself ‘the Blond Republican’, she was hired to lend a conservative voice to the very liberal panel. The only conservative voice prior to McCain was Jedediah Bila who was fired from the show in September after almost a year as a host. The hiring of McCain was announced on September 27th.
McCain gave viewers an update on her father John McCain’s medical condition. With tears in her eyes she said, “When you hear cancer a nuclear bomb goes off in your life. No matter who you are. I didn’t realize how intense and disruptive and scary and hopeless and chaotic you would feel all day long.” McCain is the oldest child of four children of Cindy and John McCain, she is a graduate of Columbia University. She has described herself as “a person who hates labels” and voted for Democrat John Kerry in the 2004 Presidential election. McCain is reportedly making a six figure salary for her co-hosting job on ‘The View.’
