Musician Chester Bennington Laid To Rest In Private Funeral In Southern California

‘Linkin Park’ frontman Chester Bennington was laid to rest in a private funeral not from from the rockers Palos Verdes, CA home. The musician was 41 and committed suicide on July 20th, 2017 in his home. About 200 people, many fellow musicians attended the Saturday funeral. The ceremony was held at the ‘South Coast Botanical Gardens’, a place that Bennington made charitable contributions to.  The stage was set up with instruments, including drums, so guests could make musical eulogies at the ceremony. The police were out in full force to control the crowds of fans that gathered for the funeral.

Fans of Bennington have organized memorial events around the country and world. Bennington hanged himself a week ago, and it’s still sending shock waves around the music world. The father of five was married to Samantha Olit from 1996 to 2005. He married former Playboy model, Talinda Bentley in 2006, the same year his divorce was final from Olit. He and his wife have three children, and she survives him in death. Bennington was plagued with health issues over the years, including gastric disorders, and several broken bones.

Bennington killed himself on what would have been musician’s Chris Cornell’s 53rd birthday. Cornell committed suicide two months earlier, by hanging himself. The same method Bennington used, many people close to the singer have surmised that Cornell’s death was very hard on the musician. The two were close friends for more than 20 years. ‘Linkin Park’ was in the middle of a tour when Bennington died. The band announced they were canceling the North American part of their world tour ‘A Thousand Suns World Tour.’ The band said through a statement full refunds would be available at point of purchase.
