Bolling Sr. fought back and released a statement “I believe it is beyond inappropriate for anyone to bring in this tragic death of my son Eric Chase Bolling, Jr. Just as Bill O’Reilly wanted to shield his children from the allegations against him, I hope he will honor my request and avoid any mentions of my son. My parting from Fox News was in no way connected to the passing of my son.”He went on to say that his son’s death was not related to any type of behavior of  his. He said unlike others that have departed Fox recently, his separation was amicable.
