Lovelock Correctional facility in Nevada has been home to O.J. Simpson since 2008. The former NFL running back and Heisman trophy winner, was convicted of armed robbery in Las Vegas. He was sentenced to a whopping 33 year sentence. That’s a virtual unheard of sentence for an offense such as Simpson’s. Many legal professionals believe the sentence was some sort of payback for Simpson’s 1995 acquittal of murder charges in the deaths of his ex wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman.
It is strongly believed that O.J. Simpson will be released from prison this year, possibly in October. Simpson will turn 70 on July 9th, and the prospects for the former Hertz pitchman are enormous. Anything O.J. Simpson in the last several years has proven to be very profitable and popular. The documentary on ESPN ‘O.J. Made In America’, took home the Oscar this year for best documentary. The mini series on FX ‘The People Vs. O.J. Simpson’ won countless awards, and had record high ratings. O.J. Simpson may want to get in on some of the action himself since it’s almost certain he will once again be a free man sometime this year.
There has been talk that he would join a future cast of ‘Celebrity Big Brother’, there could be a snag to any future big money projects Simpson may be attached to though. The victims families, the Goldman’s and the Browns, would be entitled to any future income of Simpson’s. Thanks to their 33 million dollar judgment they won against Simpson in a 1996 lawsuit for wrongful death. The families have collected very little of that settlement, mostly they say because before Simpsons was last incarceration he deliberately hid any of his income in off shore accounts and various other places. He has a monthly NFL pension of 25 thousand dollars a month, that can not be touched to settle any lawsuits.
