Paris Jackson Pays Tribute To Her Grandfather Joe Jackson By Calling Him A ‘Legend’

Actress and model Paris Jackson paid an emotional tribute to her grandfather Joe Jackson who died yesterday at 89. Jackson had been ill with various medical conditions for the last few years, finally succumbing to pancreatic cancer. Jackson leaves behind a complicated legacy, with some saying that he was a brutal tyrant, whose children were afraid of him. Others believe that without Jackson the thousands of songs of the Jackson family would have never happened. His daughter Janet Jackson paid tribute to her father just a few days before his death, calling him the best father in the world.

Paris, the 20 year old daughter of Michael Jackson who died in 2009 was by her grandfather’s side when he died. Paris said her grandfather “was one of the greatest patriarchs to ever live.” Paris revealed that several family members were by Jackson’s bedside in the last few days. She said she shared stories of her father and they had a chance ‘to say goodbye to each other.” Paris said, “Being able to tell you everything I needed to tell you before saying goodbye was such a blessing. I will cherish every moment with you, till the day I die, especially our last moments.”

Joe Jackson married his wife Katherine who survives him in 1949 ,when she was pregnant with their oldest child Rebbie. The couple would go on to have ten children and raise them in a small two bedroom house in Gary, Indiana. The senior Jackson had hopes of being a professional boxer and was also a musician for a short time. When his sons Jackie, Tito and Jermaine were young teenagers, Joe started to work with them, and groom them to become the musical dynasty the world would know. When the ‘Jackson 5’ signed a record deal with Motown Records in 1969, Joe moved his family to California. The family continues to make records almost five decades later.
