Singer Pink says the flu ‘is no joke’, she should know. The singer said on Saturday her national anthem performance is in severe jeopardy. The flu season has been the worst in over a decade in the US killing over 53 Americans. Pink is now one of thousands battling the virus, and is set to sing the national anthem in Minnesota tomorrow evening at the Super Bowl. The 38 year old singer spent Thursday rehearsing in the stadium. Organizers on Saturday reported that the rehearsal ‘did not go smoothly.’
Friday evening Pink at the Armory in Minneapolis for a pre-Super Bowl concert. She barely got through her performance. She had to rely heavily on her back up singers and the audience to help her sing. She had to entirely end one track early, the song ‘Beautiful Trauma’. Pink said, “I can’t do it, I hate this I can’t do the song, I’m sorry.” Pink said she’s been trying to ‘power through her illness’, she’s been trying to rest, but it’s been difficult to rest, with all the pre game prep that is involved. She has assured everyone she’s trying her best.
She posted on her official Instagram page, “ Trying to practice the flu away. I’ve been waiting to sing this song since 1991, when I saw my idol Whitney Houston own this song. And now, my chance has finally come. And it just happens that this chance comes when I have two petri dish kids who literally cough into my mouth, and rub their snot on my cheek. You can’t write this stuff I swear. And here we are, I’ve arrived at one my dreams and it’s slowly becoming a nightmare. I will tell you this is one of the biggest honors of my life.” Pink has been married to motor-cross racer Carey Hart since 2006. They have a daughter Willow, 6, and son Jameson 13 months.
