Bravo reality TV star Kelly Dodd has had to do a lot of downsizing after her 2017 divorce Michael Dodd after 12 years. The couple split for a second time in September of 2017, and their divorce was finalized five months later. On a recent episode of the show, viewers saw Dodd and her 12 year old daughter Jolie moving from their sprawling mansion, into a small 2 bedroom home. Kelly said of the move “It’s four houses down the street from a house I built. It was really hard for her.”
Kelly said after the divorce, she’s had to cut down on a lot of things to ‘live a much less lavish lifestyle’.
The former realtor said, “Being a single mom and having my daughter grow up with a certain lifestyle and with certain friends, and having all her friends are old money. They have jets, yachts, 30 million dollar homes, boats all that. She has grown up in this dichotomy, like it’s normal. So I totally downgraded my lifestyle. She’s not accustomed to it. It’s hard for her. I take her to Aspen and it was like, I was staying with friend, it was $1000 a day for ski school. So she has no idea about money.”
Kelly said she’s now teaching her daughter about money. She said, “What I do, is I take her and I show her, this isn’t real life. You need to learn to be appreciative, not entitled. I have completely tried to change her thought process since the divorce, so having less will be easier for her.” Kelly said her daughter Jolie, will be featured a lot more on the current season of ‘Housewives’ then in seasons past. Jolie has been keeping busy with musical theater, and had already done two plays, her mother said. Kelly said ‘day by day’ it’s getting easier for both of us.’
