Reality TV Star Jazz Jennings Recovering After Gender Reassignment Surgery

Jazz Jennings the star of TLC’s ‘I am Jazz’ has successfully undergone gender reassignment surgery, making her transition from male to female complete. The 17 year old is the youngest person to have been diagnosed as transgender-ed at the age of 5. She was brought into the national forefront after an interview with Barbara Walters in 2007 when she was 6 years old. Jennings updated her millions of fans by telling them ‘I feel great’ after her surgery, that was documented on her highly rated show. Jennings and her family first appeared on the Oprah Winfrey TV network ‘OWN’ in 2011, with the show ‘I am Jazz, A Family in Transition’.

In 2015 TLC offered the family the current show ‘I am Jazz’, the South Florida teen’s life is documented on the show. Jennings is also an outspoken Transgender Activist that speaks out on the rights of transgender-ed people. Jennings thanked her fans for ‘their love and support’ following her surgery. Jennings was born a male as Jaron Bloshinsky, she has an older sister Ari and twin older brothers Sander and Griffen. The siblings along with their parents Jeanette, and father Greg Bloshinsky all appear on the show.

Greg Bloshinsky is a successful family law attorney in South Florida. Jazz shared her upcoming surgery preparations on ‘Youtube’ announcing that her surgery was scheduled for June 26th. Jennings has stated that she feels education is a key in this equation, as far as people understanding the issues involving people in the transgender community. She said, “If I put out this information for people to see, they won’t need to ask anymore questions. A lot of parents who have transgender kids are like, what do I do. Seeing the show kind of helps them figure what steps they can take to help their kids and what the journey may look like in the future.”
