‘Rhinestone Cowboy’ Glen Campbell Dies At 81

Country music legend Glen Campbell has died at the age of 81. He died in the city that made him famous, Nashville, Tennessee in a nursing home after battling Alzheimer disease. He was formally diagnosed with the debilitating disease in 2011, however friends and family have said that Campbell had memory loss issues for at least a decade before 2011.  Campbell’s family confirmed the singer’s death by posting a message on Facebook. “It’s with the heaviest hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and legendary guitarist.

The message continued,” Glen Travis Campbell at the age of 81 has died following a long and courageous  battle with Alzheimer; Instead of flowers donations can be made to the Glen Campbell Fund at Bright Focus Foundation.” The family also said they appreciated the outpouring from the singer’s support group, and wide circle of friends. However they stressed that at this time they needed privacy. Campbell had a career that spanned more than four decades. Campbell had a respectable acting career, appearing in such classic films as ‘True Grift.’

Campbell was married four times, and fathered eight children. He married his 4th wife Kimberly Wooten in 1982 and were married at the time of Campbell’s death. He met Wooten a year before on a blind date, she had previously been a ‘Radio City Rockette.’ In 2015 there was some difficult family drama going on in Campbell’s life. Two of his children, Deby and Travis Campbell asserted that Kimberly was secluding the singer away from his children. The Campbell children failed a lawsuit, claiming they were being denied access to their father. The legal wrangling between Kim and Campbell’s children were still going on when Campbell passed away. Singer Tanya Tucker, a former girlfriend of Campbell’s was siding with his children in their fight to see their father.
