‘Real Housewives Of Orange County star Vici Gunvalson, is being accused of defrauding an 82 year old woman for 20 years. The woman, Joan Lile is suing the reality star and her company Coto Insurance and Financial Services for fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, negligence, intentional infliction of emotional duress, and breach of contract. Gunvalson has been a licensed California insurance agent since 1996 and founded ‘Coto.’ Lile says that she and her husband Robert Lile purchased insurance from Gunvalson, with a provision that if one spouse dies, the other’s medical bills will be taken care of.
This provision was extremely important to Mr. Lile, because his wife was much younger than him. He wanted to make sure upon his passing she was taken care of, and could ‘live out the rest of her life in peace.’ Robert Lile died in 2017, and Mrs. Lile says that for 20 years Gunvalson fraudulently represented the insurance had the provision, and she and her husband faithfully made their payments for the last 20 years. When her husband died, and she tried to file a claim, the insurance company denied her claim, saying ‘the insurance policy does not cover a surviving spouse’s medical or financial bills.’
Lile claims according to the legal documents, that was the only reason the policy was taken out to begin with because of the surviving spouse provision. Gunvalson has not yet filed an answer to the lawsuit, she has 20 days to file a response, the case is on-going, with unspecific damages mentioned. Gunvalson has been on the ‘Bravo’ reality show since it premiered in 2006, and is a current cast member. She is divorced from her second husband Donn Gunvalson since 2014, and she has two children. She is currently dating Steve Lodge, who is the brother of talk show producer Roger Lodge.
