Roseanne Barr Reacts To ‘The Conners’ Show Premiere

The newly rebooted Roseanne show premiered on ABC Tuesday night. Roseanne’s absence was explained in the first few seconds of the show. She had died of a heart attack initially, half way into the show, it was revealed that Roseanne died of a drug overdose, a drug the character became addicted to after knee surgery. The stars of she said ahead of the much anticipated premiere that ‘it was surreal working without the show’s former star and creator. John Goodman said, “on the set, we really missed her, it wasn’t the same.”

Barr was fired from the show in May after she made racists remarks about a former Obama Administration official. Barr signed off on ‘The Conners’ removing herself from the producing title and waving all of her rights and profits of the show. Barr said that she would be in Israel during the premiere of the new show, ‘so she would not interfere with it.’ Barr immediately took to Twitter after the show aired tweeting, “I AINT DEAD B*****S.” She released a lengthy statement with her spiritual adviser Rabbi Shmuley Boteach. The statement in part read, “While we wish the very best for the cast and production crew of The Conners, all of whom are deeply dedicated to their craft.”

The statement continued, “These were Roseanne’s cherished colleagues, we regret that ABC chose to cancel Roseanne by killing off the Roseanne Conner character. Many of Roseanne’s fans took to Twitter and addressed the actress directly. One said “Can’t believe they killed your character off with a drug overdose! How low class can you go! I don’t see the show lasting the season, the network screwed up.” Another said, “Didn’t watch won’t ever, the only thing that is dead is The Conners.” Another said, “I miss you Roseanne, the show is not the same without you.” The new show had steady ratings, but it was 35% down from the ‘Roseanne’ debut after the original show went off the air 20 years earlier.
