Selena Gomez Admitted To Psychiatric Hospital After Suffering ‘Emotional Breakdown’

According to friends and family singer Selena Gomez has had a very ‘difficult few weeks’. Gomez has been battling side effects from her kidney transplant that she had in 2017. Her close friend actress Francia Raisa donated one of her kidneys to Gomez. The 26 year old singer and actress was diagnosed with Lupus in 2012, the condition can cause kidney issues. Gomez had been taken to a hospital in Los Angeles twice in the last 2 weeks for a low white blood cell count. On her second visit to the hospital, she suffered an ‘intense panic attack’. Witnesses told TMZ Gomez was trying to rip the IV’s out of her arm.

It was at that point Gomez was evaluated by a staff psychiatrist at the hospital. The evaluation determined that the Texas native needed mental help therapy immediately, and Gomez agreed. She has been admitted to a psychiatric hospital in New York. Gomez is currently having ‘dialectical behavior’ therapy. This type of treatment focuses on the source of the destructive negative behavior, and creates a plan to combat the behavior in a healthy way. The breakdown happened on two weeks after Gomez announced that she was taking ‘a break from social media.’
