Singer Barry Manilow Comes Out As Gay At 73

Entertainer Barry Manilow, 73 has come out to the world, he has finally admitted he’s gay. He has been married to his manger Garry Kief in 2014, after being with him for 33 years. He talked about his reasons for not coming out sooner, by saying that he didn’t want to disappoint his fans. Manilow has been singing and making hit records over four decades. His first mega hit was ‘Mandy’ in 1974. Manilow has sold more than 80 million records world wide, and still sells out concert halls.

He has a new album coming out on April 21st, “This Is My Town: Songs Of New York”. Manilow met Kief an TV executive  from Houston, TX in 1978. Manilow says his entire life changed after meeting Garry. Manilow says Kief didn’t know who he was, and they were able to just deal with each other as two normal people, versus normal person and superstar. Manilow hired Kief as his manger shortly after meeting him, which has been close to 40 years. They married in a very private top secret ceremony at the 53 acre estate they share in Palm Springs, CA.

One of those guests was long time friend Suzanne Somers, who said she “can tell after all these years they still love each other very deeply.” Manilow said that marrying Kief was merely a formality, since same sex marriage became legal in California in 2014. Manilow said he thought of himself as married for all those years already. Manilow was previously married to his high school sweetheart Susan Deixler, the marriage lasted one year. He claims he wasn’t struggling with his sexuality then but he was just too young for it to work. Manilow and Kief got all of their paperwork in order, such as their wills, Manilow said he’s actually relieved everything is  out in the open now.
