Steve Harvey’s Day Time Talk Show To End In June

After much speculation, Steve Harvey’s day time talk show, ‘Steve’ will say goodbye in June. The cancellation rumors started last September when NBC inked a deal with Kelly Clarkson. The ‘American Idol’ winner, will launch her hour long talk variety show in the fall. It will take over Harvey’s time slot, that he held for the past 7 seasons. The ‘Kelly Clarkson Show’ ‘promises to be different when compared to other day time talk variety shows. The final episode of ‘Steve’ taped on Thursday. Original episodes will air through the month of June, reruns will stay on the air until September.

Harvey started his daytime talk show career in 2012, first with ‘The Steve Harvey Show.’ It was supposed to tackle hard hitting subjects, like Oprah and Phil Donahue, with a dose of Harvey’s sense of humor. It started out with stellar ratings, bug after a few seasons, the ratings started dropping off. It has been in 5 place, behind ‘Dr. Phil, ‘Ellen.’ Live with Kelly and Ryan’, and ‘Maury.’ After the first 5 years of his show, he negotiated a new contract with ‘IMG Original Content’ to produce a revamped version of his old show titled, ‘Steve.’

The show relocated to Los Angeles in 2017 from New York. The deal had Harvey having much more creative control over the show. He also racked in a much larger salary than the other version of his show. NBC Universal who produced the Harvey’s original show, were furious with the move, because it cut them out of profits from the show. The new contract started a feud between Harvey and NBC Universal’. A source said, that the friction between Harvey and NBC never went away, and got worse with time. A source confirmed, Steve had no regrets about moving from NBC Universal to IMB, he made a lot more money, and was much happier there.
