Suge Knight Weighs In On Nipsey Hussle’s Murder

‘Death Row Records’ founder and long time jail bird, Suge Knight is sharing his thoughts on rapper Nipsey Hussle’s murder. Knight talked to ‘Page Six’ about Hussle’s murder outside of his South Los Angeles store on March 31, 2019. Hussle was laid to rest on Thursday in LA, his closet friends and family were at the cemetery. Thousands of people from around the world paid their respects to the singer at the Staples Center earlier in the day. Knight,53, has spent half of his life in and out of prison, and is currently incarcerated at RJ Correctional Facility in San Diego.

Knight pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the death of record producer Terry Carter in 2015. Knight got into a fight with Carter on the ‘Straight Outta Of Compton’ set in Compton, and ran Carter over with his truck, killing him instantly. Knight was sentenced to 28 years to life for the crime. Knight thinks one of the reasons Hussle was killed is because ‘of his loyalty to the neighborhood.’ The former LA Rams football player said, “A lot of artists like Nipsey have the same problem that I had. We are too loyal to the neighborhood.” Knight was born and raised in Compton, CA, and played football for the University of Nevada, before being drafted by the Rams in 1987.

Knight was driving the car carrying the late rapper Tupac Shakur in Las Vegas on September 7, 1996. Knight and Shakur, who was recording on Knight’s ‘Death Row Records’ at the time, attended a Mike Tyson fight, they left the match and headed to a club, when Shakur was shot by a car that drove up along side them. Shakur died six days later in a Las Vegas hospital, he was 25. Knight moved away from Compton when he gained success as a record producer, but ‘he says he always came back to buy things in the hood and support the people.’
