Summer Phoenix Casey Affleck Divorce Terms Settled Only Days After Filing

Only days after actress Summer Phoenix filed for divorce from her husband of 10 years Casey Affleck the divorce has been settled. Affleck will not contest the divorce or deny his soon to be ex-wife spousal support, the terms have been settled amicably. Phoenix part of the Phoenix acting clan, said in her filing that the couple have been separated since November 2015. Phoenix filed for divorce on July 31, 2017, she asked for spousal support and joint custody of their two sons, Atticus,9,and Indiana, 13, Affleck.

Only 9 months ago at the January Golden Globe awards, Affleck praised his wife from the stage. Affleck won an Academy Award for best actor for ‘Manchester By The Sea’ this year. Summer who is the younger sister of the late River Phoenix and actor Joaquin Phoenix is a model and actress. Casey Affleck is the younger brother of Academy Award winning actor Ben Affleck. Court filings also revealed that the couple have been living apart for over 18 months, with Summer and the children still living in the couple’s Los Feliz, CA home.

Affleck moved out and is living in a rental home in Los Angeles. Summer was introduced to Affleck by her brother Joaquin who was a good friend of Casey and his brother Ben. The couple acted together in the 2000 film ‘Committed’. They began dating in 1999 and married in 2006 in Georgia. Affleck has had serious problems with alcoholism and announced in 2016 that he had been sober for 3 years. He said his father ‘had a dangerous flirtation with the disease’ and his brother has been in rehab and his late brother died of drug overdose. He said “sadly it’s in our genes.” There is some speculation that Affleck’s troubles with the bottle led to the divorce.
