Teresa Giudice Gives First Interview Since News Of Husband’s Deportation Drama Broke

Teresa Giudice of ‘Real Housewives of New Jersey’ sat down for her first interview since news of husband’s deportation woes came to light. Giudice appeared on ‘Good Morning America’ on Tuesday morning. The mother of four said, Joe Giudice is ‘trying to remain as positive as possible’. Joe is currently serving a 41 month sentence for tax fraud and a slew of other charges. Joe started serving his sentence in March of 2016. An immigration court ruled last month that Joe would be deported to Italy once his prison term is over.

Joe,46, was brought to the United States by his parents when he was a year old. A though he has lived and worked in the US for his entire adult life, he never became a citizen. Since he was convicted of a felony he can now be deported per the immigration laws. Teresa said the news of Joe’s deportation is very ‘heartbreaking and sad’ for her family. The couple have been married for 19 years and have four daughters, Gia,17, Gabriela,14,Milania,13, and Audriana,9. Teresa said, “The girls are really upset, it’s hard for them. Adults can handle anything, but it’s hard for children to go through this. They are asking themselves why is this happening to me? When is daddy coming home.”

Teresa explained “I never thought I would be in this position. It’s very difficult we’ve been through a lot. I’ve gone through ups and downs, being angry, but listen I have four beautiful daughters that need their mommy.” The family will be appealing the ruling, but his deportation could still go forward. Teresa said that when they got married, she thought Joe was a legal citizen. Both of Joe’s parents are American citizens, she said ‘I don’t understand why he never became a citizen you would have to ask him.” Teresa served 11 months for the same charges as Joe, and was released in December 2015.
